After an hour in the decanter, there was a unique aroma that I can only describe as high school locker room. Over time the nose transitioned into the smell of a guy smoking a cigar across the room (not in your face, but more subtle tobacco). On the palate the wine was not fruit heavy. It was a bit vegetal, in a good complex way. Some black cherry did peak out. The tannins were very well refined, which might be attributable to a little bottle age and the decanting. All in all, a very nice wine at a great QPR. It is drinking well now, though I don't think you need to rush to open your bottles. Interested to compare to the 2006.
