Community Tasting Note

90 Points

Sunday, June 17, 2007 - Somehow after all these years I don't have a tasting note on this vintage. This bottle is a library release and it may be that I only started buying this one by the case with the 2001 vintage. I've bought every vintage since then and found them all a consistent 88-90 scorer that's smoothe and constantly surprises my out of town/country friends and blind woudl be taken by most as a Bordeaux.

This one was drinking in its prime, with lots of blue and red fruits on the palate of this chewy, full-bodied wine with the tannins and acidity well in the background but present nonetheless. This year started having the Cabernet Sauvignon predominate as the main grape used (was Merlot in the 99) and this was a decision that made this wine a real success in my view. There's still lots of Merlot giving richness and a touch of pepper but the Cabernet Sauvignon backbone delivers the structure and character of this wine.
