Sunday, January 15, 2017 - Six courses on short notice with some great football: Decanted a 2-3 hours before drinking. It is medium to dark though still translucent garnet, darker than the 2008 Riserva we had next to it but little sign of its late-teen age. On the nose I get some earthy truffle, cherry and roses. This is a little more modern styled but still clearly Barolo, fairly big but not overdone in any way. Nicely balanced and good with the Pheasant and black rice.
