Wednesday, December 12, 2018 - Double decanted mid afternoon for dinner in the evening. Translucent light to medium ruby color with no bricking. On first opening the nose was effusive with rose petals, tar, chocolate and cherry. The palate has medium to high acidity with some remaining un resolved tannins but still with a great textured mouth feel. Palate reflects the nose with some layers of additional spice and fruit like tart blackberry, red currant, anise and a little porcini and raisin on the finish which is quite long. This is delicious, nearly mature traditional Barolo. Delicious at about 9pm with Veal Oso Bucco...nicely softened and richly textured while still showing great fruit and secondary flavors.
