94 Points

Tuesday, April 9, 2024 - Having had minimal luck trying to glean any sort of value from Burgundy, I opened this bottle on a whim suspecting it’d also disappoint. It did not and frankly I should have bought more. This is outstanding wine regardless of price point, and truly exceptional for what I paid.

Granted, opening now is tantamount to infanticide because I think it’s got a lot more in it, but still a pleasure to enjoy. Oak is abundant but feels decently integrated with the fruit.

Perfumed nose full of deep cherry and strawberry, incense sticks, black olives, fresh-cut cedar, violets, black pepper, mulch and a backbone of wet river stones.

Palate is bright, and impeccably juicy, with waves of fresh acidity balanced out by restrained, structured tannin. The finish reinforces flavors of olive and a subtle sort of braised beef savoriness.

My final score is probably over-influenced by both my initial skepticism and the value, but suffice to say that I’ve had far worse Burg’s for far more money.
