Thursday, November 19, 2020 - After years of hearing how good this wine is, we finally bought a couple bottles and tried it. Boy, this was impressive. Toasty notes of yeast and bread on the nose along with a nice sense of chalky minerality. Color is a golden yellow with a very fine mousse. On the palate, this wine is very lithe with great acidity. That chalkiness is present again, along with peaches, apples and tart lemon. Finish is round with mouth-watering acidity. Really fantastic and, if I'm being honest, probably couldn't tell the difference between this wine and Krug Grand Cuvee if you served them blind. Just a really great over-performer.

Laid in chalk 2013 (base 2012), Disgorged 2018

11/19/2020 5:19:00 AM - I just bought another six with this base vintage a couple of days ago - will be 18 bottles in total. Always good, sometimes better than that :-)

11/19/2020 2:08:00 PM - Totally agree.... In 2019 I had a bottle (mise en cave 2008, degorgement 2013) which was superb (2007 based with 40% reserve wines). My note was "Golden yellow in the baloon, consistent palate with straight minerality coupled with elegant boulangerie and smoothed acidity. Finesse and purity makes this champagne at the top of (base) champagne as per my experience. Sixty mos sur lies are evident and well represent the exclusivity of this cuvee".
