90 Points

Sunday, November 5, 2023 - My first 1991. Bought to try at auction based on great reviews on CT. Thought it would be fun! This is clearly classic Bordeaux and there is no doubt that the nose is very snobby super second, mature Pauillac and full of cedar and fresh tobacco. A heavenly nose but some trouble in the middle. A bit of wateriness that quickly gives way to a huge, dry, tannic package with a very very long finish. I suspect that's what is wowing the others here, but mine was hollow in the middle. All that remains is a seductive bouquet, stubborn acidity, and lively tannins. Shamefully, this bottle is clearly disjointed and never pieced back together. I have one more to try...DRINK_if you have this rarity.
