Friday, January 6, 2023 - Nose: Dried rose, game, cherry, black forest cake, pepper, raspberry, soap, spices
Notes: We've anticipated that this 1er Cur will be stubborn so we prepared this in advance, we started drinking after breathing for 4 hours and drank gradually over 3 hours, a total of 7 hours of breathing for the last pour. This wine showed an expressive nose of dark fruits initially and had a rather signature Meo Camuzet nose featuring raspberries throughout the night. While the wine feels like it can probably age a few years more before being consumed I somehow would like to draw a conclusion that Meo from 2006 is either not entirely ready or is a little underwhelming in terms of balance and overall profile. I suppose one can try 3-4 years or cellaring and resample again. Consistent to the kind of profile I tasted in the 2006 Meo Camuzet Echezeaux 2 months ago, I can't say I'm too impressed with the vintage. Please note that this could be a personal thing of mine as I was never a huge fan of the Domaine and rarely find their wines very impressive.
