2007 Clos Floridene Blanc

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, February 19, 2021 - 12.5% alcohol. From memory, Sauv and Sem in about equal proportions, with a smattering of Muscadelle. Good long dense cork. The colour is sustained gold and, unless the light plays tricks on me, it deepens with exposure to air.
The nose is rich but elegant with intense notes of gorse and some exotic fruit; a note of sweat develops over time (in a pleasant way), maybe as a result of the wine warming up. The mouth has excellent grip and refreshing acidity; yellow plum and lanolin. Very harmonious overall.
This wine was forbiddingly acidic in its youth, but it is just glorious now. At its peak, and probably not for much longer ageing.
Superb with poached hake (the whole beast).
This is one of very few wines that I have been buying in quantity nearly every year, and I see no reason to change that policy.
