Wednesday, October 16, 2019 - This Troplong-Mondot 2007 is mainly built with Merlot (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon I guess). Beautiful deep garnet color. Visually the wine has begun its sweet evolution. The nose is mature, of a great refinement and a nice complexity: ripe fruits, mocha, fresh mint, notes of softwoods and a tip of fine tobacco. In the mouth, the attack is fruity and greedy. Then the “rigor” of Bordeaux settles: the breeding and the beautiful bitters are emerging. The wine is carried by an energetic acid spine. Medium body with slightly angular tannins. Nice volume. Well built final with a very long persistence. No demonstation of power here (the vintage surely), rather elegance and refinement. Very nice tasting phase! To uncork without hesitation!
