Tuesday, July 28, 2009 - Nose, upon opening, was very fruity: raspberry, cherry and even strawberry. After some time in the decanter and glass it exhibited bookstore, some leather, rubber, eucalyptus and maybe even some chocolate. The profile has great fruit on the front (not overly sweet fruit, but savory, dark and rich) followed by velvety soft tannins throughout the mouth evolving into a wonderfully stimulating peppery mouth feel and, eventually, a tongue drying acid/tannin combination that carries the spicy notes into a very long finish. This is a big and beautiful wine.
