Decanted for about an hour before serving - this wine still has about 2-3 years left in it for my palate as there is a slight bit of old gym socks on the nose, but the fruit is still there. Maybe not as it once was, but it is still a very enjoyable wine that we paired with lamb chops on Valentine's Day! There are still dark fruit notes as well as some blackberry on the nose. An overall pleasurable wine with a little bit of life left, but make sure to drink up soon!

On the nose there is an abundance of dried fruit and alcohol. However, the alcohol is not off putting. The palate is where the magic is. Acid, tannin, and secondary fruit flavors all in harmony. Rounded and soft with complete integration. The finish is long and satisfying.
While this bottle may be past it’s prime, it was able to demonstrate the impeccable quality of the fruit and winemaker.

A bit closed down after an initial burst of flower and fruit. Mint took over for a while, and then cherries, currant, and some other herbs and spices came out. Surprisingly youthful at the age of 18. Very nice.

Considering the fact that the "professionals" said the vintage was OK at best and at this point most of the wines were in decline (and some undrinkable), this one is a gem.
Its appearance is indicative of its age - a relatively dull garnet with very narrow rim. The nose is strong, with black fruit, plum, leather, earth and vanilla. On the palate, that black fruit comes across vibrantly, saying "I'm not so old" and is complimented by those same secondary and tertiary notes that were on the nose - leather, tobacco and vanilla. Fine grained tannins, medium(-) acidity, medium body round out the wine. Everything is in harmony. While I think there are still several years left in this wine, I don't see it getting any better. I am really digging this wine. Outstanding.

Decanted and let stand for an hour. Drank this as part of a flight of St. Helena Cabs; also a 2012 Conn Creek Cab and a 2003 Peacock Family Spring Mountain Cab. Paired with marinated and roasted flank steak, sliced thin with au jus and tomato marinade, rice, whole kernel corn, and broccoli. Still dark and inky. Nice legs. Beautiful bouquet. Cherries, licorice, vanilla. First taste brought lots of fruit. Tannins have settled out and this is a wonderfully smooth wine. Very well balanced. I like the lower ABR. Notes of plum, cassis, blackberry. Vanilla and tobacco at the back end. Finishing off with a lingering hint of spices, pepper, and leather. Cathy has certainly developed a talent for developing these bench wines. Although this one is drinking beautifully, it seems to have some more life left to shelve it. I don't know if it will do any good but I think I will keep my last bottle for another year or two.
My rating is for what it is now; not what it could be.

Based on our preferences I'd say to drink now, still a beautiful nose with beautiful blackberry and cherry fruit, oak spices however on the palette despite the nice acidity it was a little lacking in the mid palette. Still a great wine, just in the other side.

Still fresh; you'd never guess a 2000. The fruit is dark red at the front leading toward purple at the back. The tannins are soft and the acidity just right. Spicy, cedar and pine notes mix with some early signs of leather to make a great bottle.

Dark, glass-clinging ruby purple trending toward garnet. Dark red fruits and marzipan on the nose. Subdued red fruits, marzipan, and soft cedar on the palate. Firm, fuzzy tannins with medium long finish with some stewed plum and graphite at the end. Not a big fruit bomb here. Closer to what one might expect from the Old World...or from old Napa. Drink now or hold until 2020.

Delicious, yummy, awesome as usual. Was great from first opening of the bottle to still going strong with good balance and firm tannins hours later. Fruit has mellowed, but it's still there with a mocha component that is quite lovely.

This is in its prime and has life left. The color is a dark red with no bricking. The nose is strong with pine, menthol mixed in with black cherry - not my favorite and detracted from the score. The palate was outstanding. Very mature but the fruit still had life. Decanted about an hour before drinking. Became denser as the night progressed. Agree that there is some leather and graphite. wonderful cap on Yankee, Butler and Uconn victories.

Pop and pour. Dark mature edges on a crimson base. Super bright nose of sweet cheery pie, sweet anise, red currants and red raspberries, all in a big bouquet of spring flowers. Very interesting and inviting. The palate is all cool red fruits with tons of structure and finesse; there are some red currants, red raspberries compote, bright bing cherries, a hint of tart plums, some tar, worn leather, and graphite. There is a wonderful mid-weight and somewhat lush & creamy feel to this one. The finish is long and exact. Interestingly, I have never really had a 2000 Napa Cab that I really really liked, or should say experienced any that did not exhibit at least some of the problems inherent of the vintage; they always seemed a bit manufactured, fake or cloying. This has broken the mold and is a revelation to me. It’s a very pretty and most certainly a Bordeaux-like Cabernet, something I always believed was Corison’s house style. Definitely a very different style than many being made these days and although not the style I usually seek, this is a winner. Drink now and enjoy. Should hold on for a few years.

Medium-dark, red-purple color. The nose has cassis, leather, some pine aromas, and a little cinnamon. The palate is medium-bodied. The fruit is nice, starting to show it's maturity. There's some nice complexity with some spiciness on the palate. Still plenty of structure holding everything up. Maybe just slightly flat in the mid-palate. Drinking very nicely, but not really going out of it's way to impress. Pleasant, moderate length finish.

Wonderful bouquet on the nose and well balanced with fine, long lasting tannins. Sad that this was my only bottle as I would have liked to have seen how this wine would be a few years from now as it certainly seems to have the legs to do so.

Popped and poured, excellent right out of the bottle. Perfectly balanced, still bright and acidic with smooth, mouth-coating texture and fine-grained tannins. Nose and palate both impressive with red fruit, cherries and berries combined with mineral earthiness and wet stone. Elegant, long finish.

This wine is drinking really well right now as wonderful dark fruit (black cherry in particular) colors, aromas and flavors lead to an extremely satisfying experience. This specific example highlights how you can find some great bottles (and values) that were produced in a relatively poor year overall for Napa cabs.

Dark rich color and a beautiful black cherry, tobacco and slight hint of anise nose. Wow. This is a cabernet. Soft and ready to go on the palate too. Mouth filling and rich with only 13.5% alchohol. Well done. Just opened. We shall see where it goes.

It took about 30 minutes for this wine to open up. First impression was this smelled and tasted a lot younger than a 9 year old cab. Great mouth feel, lots of dark red fruit and plenty of structure that will keep this drinking young for a while. Tannins rounded out as night progressed. Very solid effort in a vintage that I have had less success drinking as of late. Of the 2000's that I have left, this one stands out.

Fabulous bottle - incredible mouthfeel, very smooth and coats the entire mouth. More fruit than I expected in this bottle as Corison is generally a little more reserved than other Napa CS. But there was a lot of fruit here and it was very enjoyable. Definitely a great bottle for a special occasion.

Nose, upon opening, was very fruity: raspberry, cherry and even strawberry. After some time in the decanter and glass it exhibited bookstore, some leather, rubber, eucalyptus and maybe even some chocolate. The profile has great fruit on the front (not overly sweet fruit, but savory, dark and rich) followed by velvety soft tannins throughout the mouth evolving into a wonderfully stimulating peppery mouth feel and, eventually, a tongue drying acid/tannin combination that carries the spicy notes into a very long finish. This is a big and beautiful wine.

Wow, gone are the hard tannins it once it had in its youth. It's earthy and medium mocha flavors dance on the palate. There is pencil lead and wet stone, some minerals too. The balance is perfect and the finish ecohos the wet stone and minerals for a long time. It avoided the cured black olive and herb flavors other big Napa cabs can get at this age and instead, opted for finesse and balance. I say drink this year maybe next.

My notes from 11/2007 hold true "I think about as good a 2000 cab as I have tasted. Very drinkable now, but structured to last. 91-92" Not at all a fruit bomb, quite similar to a St Julien.

Dark garnet color, definitely not the look of a 9 year old wine. Nose was quite aromatic. Blackberry, menthol, a bit of licorice. Great cabernet flavors of cassis, just the right amount of vanilla oak and a slightly tart finish. The smoothness and balance of this wine on the palate is truly what makes this wine special. You can do that when you keep the abv around 13.6%. This wine is just great and I am sad that it was my last bottle.

Decided to open based upon the CT drinking window. Had with steak, sauteed mushrooms, broccoli, and tomatoes with mozarella -- our go to meal. Color looked a hint past peak when opened but still a nice dark look to it. Was surprised to find it a bit tight and acidic right out of the bottle and was wondering if perhaps I should have held on to it for a bit longer. Over the course of the meal and afterwards, however, it smoothed out and opened up. Restrained almost bordeaux like style some tobacco, dark cherries, little bit of smoke. Will see how it progresses over the evening but a very nice wine -- especially for a rainy Sunday evening.

Popped and poured a taste before decanting. Very tight out of the bottle, showing pencil shavings, earth, unsweetened chocolate and a hint of the fruit that is to come. A fair amount of sediment in the bottle.
Decanted for about an hour. Black cherry, raspberry, a bit of spice (anise?) and dark chocolate on the nose. The flavors are fantastic and very well balanced - plums, black raspberry, dark chocolate, a bit of earthiness and some tannins on the finish. This paired very well with rib eye steaks (no surprise).
Day 2 (only one glass remained) this is still showing well. The fruit has diminished a little, revealing a touch of oak and alcohol - - both of which were completely integrated yesterday.

13.6% alcohol. Quite a nice surprise. No hints of age. Opaque purple-tinged red color still. Fragrant bouquet of black currant and tobacco, with a touch of spiciness. Round and really quite elegant in the mouth. Packed with plenty of fruit, well-balanced, and a nice touch of acidity to cut the slight fatness of the earthiness. Still somewhat tannic on the finish, which is moderate in length. Really rather tasty.

Inky purple in appearance. A little hot out of the bottle, decanted for 1.5 hours. Cherries and spice on the nose, silky mouthfeel. Blackberries, nutmeg and dark chocolate on the palate. Was hoping for a longer finish, but nice oak and hints of vanilla. Well-integrated tannins make this wine very smooth and nicely balanced. A touch smoother the second night, the understated tannins make me think this is structured to last at least another year or so in the cellar. A pleasure to drink.

Dark reddish-purple, a very little orange around the edges. Opened and let sit over night, which took off the initial heat and softened the wine. Nice nose of sweet red fruit. First taste from the bottle was very nice. Decanted 2 hours while I ran errands, but I don't think this needed it. Nose of blueberry and flowers, with a tiny hint of heat. On the palate, blackberries, currant, and a bit of mineral. Finish is long, earthy, and has me wanting to take another sip immediately. This is lovely wine! Winemaker Cathy Corison said the 2000 vintage was a tough one for CA wines, so if that is true and her 2000 Cab is THIS good, I'm REALLY looking forward to my bottle of 2001 Corison Cab! 93 points - Outstanding.

Napa Valley Vintner's Big Nightlife Napa Valley Magnum Tasting Party (San Francisco, CA): Another pleasant surprise from the 2000 vintage. Aromas/flavors of black cherrry, plum, currant, spice and oak/vanilla. Drinking very well now. Soft and round, with good depth and complexity. Supple tannins and nice balance. Lingering finish. Cathy Corison is making Bordeaux style Cabs that have an elegant style, that can be drunk now, but will drink well for many more years.

Continued fruit and a little leather on the palate. Masked floral and mineral aspects, but stayed mostly hidden. Very nice wine and a good value for Napa cabs.
