Color looked a hint past peak when opened but still a nice dark look to it. Was surprised to find it a bit tight and acidic right out of the bottle and was wondering if perhaps I should have held on to it for a bit longer. Over the course of the meal and afterwards, however, it smoothed out and opened up. Restrained almost bordeaux like style some tobacco, dark cherries, little bit of smoke. Will see how it progresses over the evening but a very nice wine -- especially for a rainy Sunday evening.
