95 Points

Saturday, February 15, 2020 - One finds very few wines like old Laville Haut Brion - the combination of aromas pretty singular. This bottle of the 66 is an excellent example; poured from the bottle, the nose shows a mature, mellow pineapple, lanolin profile accented by kerosene and shiitake. With 30 minutes of air, this turns into a different wine - the fine silhouette is shed and this becomes rich and full; the fruit more pure and intense with pineapple, cream, lemon, and lanolin. Remarkably, this shows no sign of tiring after 3 hours.
