90 Points

Wednesday, June 9, 2004 - Still tight and restrained, chalky tannins, cassis with a tiny hint of green pepper, some cherry cough syrup and cranberries, a bit coarse and a little hot (but not overly so), certainly an "Old World" style - surprising to find in a '97 wine from Oakville, this is structured somewhat like the '96 Mondavi Reserve but lacking some of the class and power of that wine.
