Saturday, December 2, 2006 - Second part of the 96 white burg theme for the week-end, after the 96 Dauvissat Forest. I really love what Roulot does. Although this one is not at the same level as the Charmes from the same vintage tasted earlier this year, it's still in a comparable ballpark. The main word for me is finesse. Everything seems gentle and understated. It's not an obvious wine, it's delicate, balanced, lively - inviting you to a little dance. The toast is quite obvious at first, a bit like a wooden dancefloor - kind of necessary, but what's interesting is what happens on top of it.
