Friday, January 16, 2009 - The nose hit me like a Cotes du Rhone. Really earthy and funky. It had the great clean cherry notes that you get from Barbera, but the earthiness threw me.
The mouth is all Barbera d'Alba though. Nice, bright black cherry. Great acidic backbone. Really quite complex.
I really enjoyed this wine, although it definitely breaks the mold on Barbera d'Alba, and not in a bad way.
