Thursday, April 18, 2013 - Interesting. PnP from 55F wine fridge, opening with strong flavors dominated by raspberry. After 10-15 minutes open this faded, to be replaced by more subtle aromas and flavors of dried dark cherries, spices, smoke, and oak, with the cherry dominant.
Mild acidity with minimal body and tannins. However, the finish is long with some complexity.
On an interesting side note, I read the tasting note from Wine Spectator (written in 2005) after writing the majority of this tasting note and it was a dead ringer for what I thought of this wine... a rarity for a review so old - the wine did not change much over time. So drink when you want it - I can't see this one getting any better!
