91 Points

Saturday, June 23, 2012 - This is the base CdP cuvee of Domaine Font de Michelle. The vines average 45 years old (some as old as 110 years). The blend is 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% other grapes. Traditional fermentation and aging in large foudres and smaller futs. Known as a good ager. 2007 was an excellent vintage in the Southern Rhone. I got this on sale for $20 (marked down from about $37). Opened my first of these with Anwar and Trigirl after dinner. Not decanted (which would have helped). Reddish purple color. Solid tannins. A medium bodied wine with notes of black currant, berries and cherries. 91 points (which is in line with WS and WA).
