Sunday, May 20, 2018 - This has moved forward in the last year, and now is challenging the sublime 1990. This is at its absolute peak, but with a structure to stay at this level for years, and I am at an absolute loss at other reviews stating that it's in decline. This is a magnificent Bordeaux, and represents everything the region embodies. With a deep nose of old leather and blackcurrent, on the palate the depth and balance are excellent. The tannin is evolved but still with good bite and in total harmony with the fruit. The only barrier to a higher score is a relatively short finish which is slightly dominated by the tannin. This took decades to evolve but what an eventual reward. Do decant for a couple of hours. 97+
