Sunday, May 31, 2020 - I still have a half case remaining, and once again this tasting really confirms that I need to be finishing this up over the next 12 to 18 months as it is in the latter stages of its maturity. That said, it is a powerhouse of a wine, and really only surpassed by the 1990 over the last 50 years. The depth and balance on the balance are exquisite, and the finish pushes 60 seconds and is exceptional. It is still over harsh towards the end of the finish, but it is on the nose that its overage is starting to show. I wrote a couple of years ago, (with a rating of 97,) that this was a wine for special occasions; this still holds but it is past its absolute optimum, and it is probably better to make those special occasions sooner rather than later.
