Saturday, September 24, 2011 - I have experienced significant bottle variation in recent months but this was one of the really good ones......briefly decanted then drank slowly over the course on an evening. Lovely bright gold colour. Nose of expensive lemon soap, crushed roasted lemons, unobtrusive oak and honeycomb. Palate is warm, golden, rounded and mouthcoating with honeyed tones but then quickly counterpointed by delicious lemon meringue pie, crushed roasted whole lemons, crushed rocks and lots of minerals. The alcohol now seems to be getting tamed and is no longer as hot as when this wine was younger......it is still no mistaking a big Chardonnay by old world standards but it is no oak monster and it is now really starting to find its proper proportions. Very good indeed and still has tons of time to improve, certainly over the next couple of years.
