Sunday, October 23, 2022 - Listening to Morgan and Chris talk on the Bedrock podcast about the skill and care that went into blending the Ravenswood Vintner’s Blend and designate wines made me decide to open this one. It’s amazing that a wine that cost maybe $12 on release could go this long and be this good. It’s another strong point that Zinfandel can age and develop just as well as the commonly accepted “great” grapes. There’s lots of bottle age sweetness here, as well as ample red fruit. Saddle leather, heart and parched gravel notes fill out the range until a subtle hit of spice comes in at the end. Opened three hours ago it’s still going strong. Makes me wish that Joel was making a regional wine for Once & Future. I would put away cases of it.
