Sunday, September 17, 2017 - 5th and final wine of a '96 dream tasting in Bourdeaux with our group. Done 2 separate times over 2 separate weeks. 1st week, 1st bottle corked. New bottle PnP'ed with no decant time....absolutely beautiful nose, full of fruit, slight garnet edge with an earthy nose after a swirl. Classy and smooth would be the best descriptors for this wine. Excellent structure throughout. Mid palate of great red/black fruit. Big ending with nice spice and rich acidity with nice tannins remaining. This should have plenty of life left ahead. My favorite wine of the week but at a pricepoint way above my pay grade. 2nd week? Well......somebody has to do it. More of the same. My life is complete now after this 5 wine '96 tasting. Thank you, Lord.

9/20/2017 5:45:00 PM - I can put you in touch with the Napa vintner. He is not doing a trip in '18 and his '19 trip is already booked. His '20 trip is his next opening. Cost all inclusive for the 6 days for 2 is around $15k plus your airfare. Def the trip of a lifetime. We did 4 days in Paris as a lead in and stayed a few days in Bordeaux at the end as well because of the hurricane, tagging along him with his second group. Got to do this tasting twice!
