Sunday, April 24, 2011 - For an inexpensive screw cap wine, Garnet is quite nice. Color medium/dark cherry red. Nose is elusive with hints of yeast and strawberry. The typical California Pinot jam is balanced by good acidity and a slightly lower alcohol content. Light to medium body with good balance. Has a bit of finish and is a great value for a $20 wine. Good for a group when Grand Crus would be wasted. Pulled out as a comparison (!) with a Raphet 1993 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru.
