Saturday, March 22, 2014 - Hi End Napa Cabs with an Haut Brion Kicker (Gary's Place, Hudson, WI): Very dark, purple - red color. PNP, had about an hour of slow-o after popped. Drank two 2oz pours over 2.5 hours. Initially this was on the tight side, it evolved nicely in the glass over 20 minutes and was better still on round two after continuing to slow-O for another 1.5 hours. The nose eventually starts to some complexity, bright cassis, blackberry, dry earth, spices, a floral perfume shines on the second pour along with a distinct and wonderfully savory bacon fat note. The palate has downright gorgeous fruit, lush and full bodied, but in no way heavy or laboring, crushed rock. deep, intense and layered, crème de cassis, mulberry, savory, and very long on the finish. Beautiful balance - and completely integrated - wow. My #1 WOTN and group #1 WOTN. 95+ to -96pts(+). I want to see this in another 5+ years to see what it does..
