Saturday, March 2, 2013 - This deep ruby wine flaunts an immediately-expressive nose of pickling spice, ripe plum, coffee cake and carmelized oak. It is medium-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity, refined tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%). The flavors reflect the nose, but the plum component turns just a bit pruney in the middle and this hint of over-ripeness persists throughout the medium-length back end. Ready to drink now, this is a wine which pushes the edge of ripeness but is enjoyable nonetheless. Drink now-12/17.
