Tuesday, April 5, 2016 - Decanted for over an hour. Very good and mature domestic pinot now drinking very well and in a great drinking window- I do not see any upside to further cellaring this and anticipate a decline starting in the next 1-2 years. Still dark with some peripheral bricking. Somewhat muted nose of dark red fruit especially red cherry and raspberry with a hint of white pepper (something there to almost make you think about a sneeze ;) ). Well structured, no acid nor tannins present, very cohesive, well integrated and smooth with no off tones at all. Good mouth feel and a medium length finish. Primary flavor profile now much softer then in it's youth, much less prominently fruit forward. Up front initially red fruit including dark cherry and raspberry, softer and more integrated then many CA pinots and some well-balanced smoke and tobacco followed by hints of black pepper developed on the mid- and late palate. We definitely recommend this especially for lovers of domestic pinot but also recommend drinking up the remaining bottles within the next 1-2 years.
