Monday, January 25, 2010 - Opened, decanted and consumed over 3 hours at a restaurant. Drunk alongside 96 Haut Brion, 95 Lynch Bages, 97 Yalumba Octavius. Surprisingly approachable. Dark ruby red, clear and youthful in colour. Nose of chalk, red fruits and some tobacco/earthy notes. Palate an elegant and well integrated blend of youthful fruit, dominated by cherry, prune and blackberry, and early secondary notes of cigar and some mushroomy/truffly characters. Tight, long finish with beautifully fine and integrated tannins. A pleasure, but will certainly improve with another 5-7 years.
