Saturday, October 26, 2013 - “Mixed Bag of Bordeaux”-Tasting (non-blind), in October 2013, Wine 4: This last wine of the flight we actually drank and not only tasted. We poured the wine into a decanter, served the first glass after about thirty minutes, poured the wine back into the rinsed bottle after about 2.5 hours and consumed it over two evening. The wine offered pencil shaving, black currant, blackberry, cherry, chocolate, leather, tobacco, cedar wood and some brett on the nose. On the palate the wine showed graphite, sweet fruit, black currant, blackberry, cherry, bell pepper, leather, tobacco, some chocolate and some brett, paired with medium-plus acidity, medium-plus tannin and very good length. The broad, dense, sweet, medium-bodied wine was very balanced. A very good Bordeaux, though certainly not the best value. Drink now and over the next ten years.
