Friday, March 30, 2018 - Decanted and drank over 2 hours. This continues to be one of my favorite vintages of Pichon Lalande to drink right now, and still has that classic Lalande nose. It really opened up nicely over time, with a gorgeous nose of black currant, leather, violets, cigar box, pencil shavings, and with lots of herbal notes. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a nice silky texture. Some of the hard edges of a few years ago have softened. Tannins give it nice structure, but are now very soft and silky. Medium-plus length finish, with medium acidity and a nice earthy edge. Still has quite a bit of time left, but this is clearly a great time to drink this.
