Sunday, June 6, 2004 - Not decanted consumed over a period of 4 hours. Deep plum color with a clear rim in the glass. Upon opening a nose of dark fruits and a slight earth note, the palate followed the nose with some tannin noticeable in the finish. I decided not to decant based on this small taste, re-cork back in the cellar.

With the meal this wine was quite a surprise. I had opened the bottle 2 hours prior and drained off a couple of ounces, we found the wine quite approachable. The nose had only opened slightly adding a trace of cedar to the fruit and earth, the fruit was more in the lighter spectrum. However, the very fine tannin. when first opened. had gone missing. The finish was pleasant enough but a tad short. The balance was quite good, the wine quite elegant.

Four hours later, finishing the bottle up, the acid came more to the forefront. The nose remained within the same realm all evening, the finish lengthened and ended with a pleasant spice note.

I think I will have to make another trip to the store and grab a few to put away.
