Wednesday, February 24, 2021 - The 2001 Pichon Lalande is still a touch young for prime time drinking, but it opens up nicely after a few hours in the decanter, mingling aromas of cassis and plums with hints of Cuban cigar, raw cocoa and loamy soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with ripe tannins and succulent acids, it's lively and nicely concentrated. Though it's appealing today, I suspect that with another six or seven years' bottle age, it will really start to surprise with its charm and plenitude.

2/24/2021 9:29:00 PM - This is a very nice note. Hmmm. A decade ago I found this wine very appealing, and now it appears to be even more so! It is definitely time to check in, especially having a few more to try in your suggested window.
