Saturday, December 26, 2020 - Best for the first half hour after opening, the 48 las Cases is a fun old wine for Christmas dinner as it seems as packed full of chestnuts as the stuffing is! That lovely roasted chestnut note is complemented by cedar, touches of red cherry, rose, and loam. Mulchy, malty palate. Despite a good cork and a very high shoulder fill, it’s a wine that was probably at its apogee decades ago.
