Saturday, December 31, 2005 - Wow what a treat! New Year's dinner with friends. Color is medium garnet with a hint of bricking at the rim. Nose is exotic with floral elements, cherry, spice, and leather. On the palate, this is a perfectly balanced, smooth as silk wine. Cherry, spice, leather, and tobacco all seem to effortlessly intermingle in this medium-bodied gem. Tannins are well-integrated and acids are unobtrusive. The wine improved significantly over 2 hours, but it drank well straight away. An absolute stunner, and by far the best Merlot based wine of my life. Thanks to Matt for bringing this treasure.
