Friday, December 11, 2009 - Must admit I had somewhat high expectations for this wine. Not often I drink a Corton-Charlemagne from a great grower. So I opened the wine and poured it into a decanter. Pale straw, hmm, this is young. Tight, restrained nose of green fruit, citrus and steel. Tastes like a Grand Cru Chablis; almost painfully citrusy with green fruit, a steely minerality, sea salt but also a touch a butterscotch/almonds. This wine is incredibly young and edgy and requires many more years to round-off. Very long finish. No change on day 2. Still youthful with a high acidity and a very mineral profile, perhaps with a more buttery/creamy texture. Needs time in the cellar. Excellent.
