Sunday, March 10, 2013 - Primary, but really quite approachable. Bottle opened for 6 hrs and double decanted for 2 more. This is a fabulous Barton, with dark purple / inky color, and alluring aromas of black fruits, cassis, spice, and some minerals. The structure of the wine is solid and incredibly balanced, silky tannins and loads of jammy blackberry, a bit of earthiness and tobacco scent. Don't think the wine has opened up fully, but its undeniable there are great substance in it and its primed for greatness with time on its side.
