2009 Château Léoville Barton

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Thursday, June 17, 2021 - The 2009 Léoville Barton is in a rather overtly oaky phase right now, though it eventually settles down to reveal aromas of dark berries and cassis that are heavily patinated by scents of vanilla pod, cedar, baking chocolate, espresso roast and even toasted coconut. Medium to full-bodied, with appealing tannic bite that cuts the wine's generous core of fruit (and it's hear that the estate's "old school" reputation makes itself felt), I certainly wouldn't bet against it integrating its new wood; but right now, it is best left alone (unless one is an enthusiastic Bourbon drinker).
