91 Points

Thursday, November 19, 2020 - 1990 Barolo dinner (Lafiandra, Singapore): A bit rustic, but fairly enjoyable. The nose was earthy and funky, with notes of meat and sous bois, cooked cherries and berries, and just a little ring of smoke and rose petals. Really attractive. Unfortunately, the palate, while similarly attractive in tone, was rather a little drier and less giving than the nose promised, with juicy acidity and then a chew of warm spice and a drape of tannins laced around a core of dark cherry fruit, with a tail of spice and a earth. Lacked a bit of complexity, and the finish was just a touch woody and drying, giving the wine a rustic feel at the end, but otherwise quite enjoyable. This may have been better a few years back.
