Saturday, February 11, 2012 - To celebrate the absence of plans, we cooked a feast. Slow cooked BBQ filet mignon, roasted beet salad with orange vinaigrette, and slow cooked fresh fennel. For some reason, the Spring-like weather caused me to reach for a red Meursault. This wine is a pinot noir based wine. Fearing that the wine might be too young or too oaked to drink, I decanted the wine for 4 hours. There was no need. This is a light table-style red. A pleasant, but forgettable quaff to enjoy with food, but not much here apart from that. I would describe the wine as thin and watery, with light cherry notes. On the plus side, it is only 13.5% alcohol, making it perfect for food. Nonetheless, I will not remember this wine.
