Monday, May 24, 2021 - From a full case purchased en primeur. Not decanted, opened two hours in advance. Rich colour, just starting to brown slightly at the edges; convincing nose, ripe blue and black berry fruit and black pepper, just a hint of toast from the oak, gravel and "animale", good depth; relatively sweet on the palate, juicy and rounded but fresh and energetic, ripe fruit and warm spices, fresh and well balanced, with a delightful counterpoint of firm but elegant and ripe tannins; very good resonance and length. A complete Du Tertre, sunny but not warm or overripe, on its plateau of maturity. Not hugely complex but not overambitious either. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Lovely. Drink now - 2029. Completely upright on the second day, confirming its ageing potential.
