Thursday, January 23, 2014 - Don't let the screw cap fool you! This wine stands up to much pricier Pinots. Decanted for half an hour. Light ruby color with the nose offering weed, leather, and raw meat. The palate follows the nose. It is herbaceous with a meaty flavor at the start followed by red raspberry, tobacco, and a hint of chocolate. It finishes very nicely; smooth with medium length leaving behind chocolate and raspberry. Low/med acidity and tannins give it a firm structure and balance. Overall, it is very pleasant, interesting, and definitely a good value wine.
