90 Points

Monday, February 20, 2012 - Served double blind, not sure how long it had been opened. Initially all of got was vanilla oak on the nose. Switch glasses and found a modern well oaked wine with black currants and finely woven tannins. Lengthy roasted coffee finish. Though I got a touch of a floral aspect on the nose and ignored my initial reaction that this was '04 SHL and went with '04 Malescott instead. Oh well. I've liked this more in the past, it's certainly in a modern style and still needs some time to integrate the oak. The merlot really shows through right now.
