Saturday, November 29, 2014 - Uniform dark violet color. Intense and very vegetal nose of cassis, violets, mocha, tobacco leaf and menthol, with tertiary driftwood and licorice. Very dark-fruited on the palate, with craisins, cherries, coffee, mint chocolate, and cloves. Medium finish with fully integrated tannins. My first Pape Clément is done in a very modern style with lots of earthy merlot. It's a delicious wine from a mediocre vintage, and its drinking nicely now.
