Sunday, October 9, 2016 - Drank over 2 hours from bottle. At ES with C & T.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of slight barnyard, dark gravelly earth, pencil lead, blackberries, blackcurrant. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13%), chewy chalky gum-drying high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of blackberries, blackcurrant, dark gravelly earth, cedar, pencil lead, graphite. Long finish.
Very good quality. Dark and broody. Definitely improving with more air. This still has some way to go before the chewy tough tannins soften up. Give this another 5+ years.
