Saturday, January 28, 2017 - Decanted 1hr before serving. Peaked at around 2h open. Incredible expression of terrior. Nose of iron, smoke, damp earth, cinnamon, clove, sun-baked river stones and a trace of dill. Palate mirrors the nose with a core of delicate but juicy strawberry and maraschino cherry fruit slathered with gravely, earthy spice. Tannin is vanishingly smooth and silky and med+ body is cut with a fresh lift of acidity. In my view 2017 is peak drinking for this bottle -- as its terroir is vibrantly expressive but the fruit is also still quite luscious.
