Tuesday, December 14, 2010 - Poured into glasses 1 hour before dinner and served at cellar (58) temperature. Upon opening, very funky and closed - opened up nicely and gained weight with airtime. Dark reddish / purple color. Raspberry / strawberry/ cassis & herbs on nose - Although this wine had some heft (for a Gamay), it was very easy to drink - excellent with grilled chicken casseroloe - it's hard not to drink the entire bottle quickly! Palate consistent with nose with some nice earthy elements - great balance, medium body, long finish (and there are some tannins with this wine) - left 2 glasses in bottle and will see how it evolves overnight - this wine needs some time. Probaby closer to a "90" tonight. [Edit]. Night two - this wine is kicking - aromatics more intense (with some gamy meaty elements, violets) - silky mouthfeel, medium body and long finish - very versatile with food - this matched well with beef chili. Excellent effort.
