Still deep ruby. Some green herb and dark fruit aromas. Medium weight with real chocolaty richness. Black cherry and blackberry infused with soil. Great acidity, substantial tannins, and the flavor of ground coffee at the end. This is outstanding but still nowhere near fully mature. The last bottle of this had all of the material but was marred by brett whereas this was completely clean. Immensely impressive.

I opened this bottle based on recent reviews of flawed or oxidized bottles from too much age.
However, that was not the case with this bottle as it was quite delicious. The nose was faint forest berry fruit with lots of herbaceous funk, iron, and faint menthol. In the mouth, the texture was divine as the tannin is fully resolved leaving a silky sensation as it glides across the palate. Wild strawberry and subtle raspberry and cranberry are generous up front and enlivened by decent acidity before iron, iodine, and other earthly flavors mingle with the decaying fruit on the long finish.
As often happens with good cru Bojo, it evolves into a wine very reminiscent of cru level Burgundy in both weight and flavors. This bottle did not disappoint in that regard.
Overall, I think I opened this bottle right at the perfect time for me as it is still young and fruity, but has now developed some of that funk. I think well-stored bottles that are not inherently flawed should make it close to 2030.

Waited too long to enjoy - fruit was baked but you could smell / taste the underlying strawberry / tart cherry notes. Last had in 2016 and thought this would easily go 4-5 more years. Guess I was wrong. Bottle was not flawed as much as fruit dried out - also had a touch of volatile acidity on palate. NR. Looks like my experience was consistent with prior 2 taster.

I was kind of afraid to see what's going on here because the Corcelette fell apart in the cellar, but this is in fantastic shape and delivering on every bit of the promise it showed on release. The fruit hasn't aged much but most of that dry, rugged tannin it showed on day one has been absorbed, leaving a dense, succulent wine that really shows off that old-vine sève. One of the very best '09s I've had in the last few years.

A bit monolithic tonight, tannic black cherries, but that’s fine. Each glass showed a bit more, so I recommend decanting. Sadly it was gone quickly. We really enjoyed it with dinner, lots of extract and substance. Wine for the table. It’s no sipper.

Departing from what I think of as beaujolais, this is a downright brooding wine. Completely opaque. Aromas of cocoa, molasses, and concentrated black cherry. Fleshy with low acidity and ample tannins. Needs time.
I wonder if one day people will look back and think 2009 was an overrated vintage for Beaujolais. Most of the things I love about Beaujolais are missing from this wine. It remains to be seen how this wine will age.
Deep dark ruby. Expressive aromas of black raspberries, black tea, dark flowers, asian spice and hint of forest-floor. Well balanced in mouth, showing perfectly ripe mouthful of spicy, reduced dark berry compote, medium acidity and a long floral and mineral laden finish.

PNP. Dark reddish / black color (looks younger than an '09 Gamay).
Bright cherry, strawberry, stone, violets & pomegranate on the nose with similar flavor profile on palate. Medium body, high acidity (low ph) with a medium+ finish. Very tasty and way too easy to finish the bottle. This wine is aging well (I tried my last bottle in 12/2010 shortly after purchase and this has rested in a cool cellar since then). 91-92 range.
This should last for another 4-5 years easy.

Poured into glasses 1 hour before dinner and served at cellar (58) temperature. Upon opening, very funky and closed - opened up nicely and gained weight with airtime. Dark reddish / purple color. Raspberry / strawberry/ cassis & herbs on nose - Although this wine had some heft (for a Gamay), it was very easy to drink - excellent with grilled chicken casseroloe - it's hard not to drink the entire bottle quickly! Palate consistent with nose with some nice earthy elements - great balance, medium body, long finish (and there are some tannins with this wine) - left 2 glasses in bottle and will see how it evolves overnight - this wine needs some time. Probaby closer to a "90" tonight. [Edit]. Night two - this wine is kicking - aromatics more intense (with some gamy meaty elements, violets) - silky mouthfeel, medium body and long finish - very versatile with food - this matched well with beef chili. Excellent effort.

Without a doubt the most backwards 09 Beaujolais I've tasted thus far. I was surprised that it was fairly accessible when I first popped the cork, with what can best be described as a female's perfume. I went to dinner and poured a glass and it changed into a brooding, dark, dense monster of a beaujolais. Brothy with spices, black tea, brown sugar and a lot of tannic grip, this definitely needs some cellar time. Apparently this is from vines planted in 1926 and judging by the character and material here, it shows.

2009 Beaujolais (Dino, Washington DC): Great nose of fresh raspberries, crushed rocks, and spices. Restrained bouquet of violets, dried roses, raspberries, and some herbs. Should continue to improve with some additional years as the finish is tannic and tight. Complex wine.

A buck more than the Corcelette. Gotta love Beaujolais. It says "vignes plantee en 1926" right on the label, pretty nifty, and catnip for a V.V. obsessive like me. The wine, though, is significantly more challenging than the Corcelette, built in a true vin de garde style with burly, muscular tannin. It's got a fresh, fruity scent like a bowl of ripe raspberries, but on the palate the fruit profile is much deeper and grittier without the Corcelette's sense of vibrancy (ditto for the wine's literal color) or its transparent minerality. Everything about this insists on bottle age to show what it has to offer; there's no real opening-up over five hours in a decanter. Even so, although I can't exactly call this a thirst-quencher, it does retain a lot of the palate-freshening qualities that are a hallmark of Beaujolais. This isn't a pinot noir ringer, just Beaujolais in a serious and strict style that'll definitely be at the back of the vintage's drinking queue for me.

Deep red to purple color. Tight initially. Really wound up. With air, the nose gets gamey (ha ha), with iron too. Really dense and powerful palate presence; yet the wine is not heavy. There is a lot of material here, or at least that's the impression. The darkish fruit leaves a lasting impression on the palate. A powerful wine; all funky and rocky.Good stuff at $24 locally. My first '09 and it looks good.

Started off extremely tight. After about an hour or two in the decanter it started to reveal a very ephemeral nose. Some dirty sock funk, sour cherry, some florals (violet), and wild strawberry. All the flavors ride out on an intense beam of hot stone minerality and acidity. Clearly, a Beaujolais for the cellar.

nose is tight, but you can tell there's some serious stuff in there. it opened up a lot with time. lots of density here. bright cherries and some red licorice on the nose as it opened up. palate is bright, but there is a lot of dusty, earthy minerally characteristics. red cherry fruit, but this thing is so tight. it's got a lot to offer. could, and should, age.
