Sunday, June 15, 2014 - Drank at Seaside Johnnys and was duly impressed. Bold golden color, nose of some citrus and minerality. Medium bodied, lots of fruit, though not overripe. I'm presuming this wine was aged in stainless steel as I didn't get any wood here. Good minerality, round mouthfeel, good length. Far from being lean or restrained as I think chablis usually are, this is a much bigger and bolder wine than I expected of this well-aged chablis, and was quite impressive. I've had several Vergets over the years, and this is not my favored chablis producer, but I will say that this wine hit the target--if not exactly what one would expect of a chablis. Great fruit, matched perfectly with solid acidity and minerality, making for a wonderfully complex, satisfying, easy to enjoy wine. A real crowd pleaser too
