Saturday, December 13, 2008 - My first high end Alsatian Riesling, and it has been stored well since its purchase in 2002. No big surprise that a healthy dose of the petrol goodness dominated the aromatic profile, fresh peeled citrus skins, and we wouldn’t have a nice Riesling on our hands if we didn’t see a healthy dose of minerals now, would we? No, we wouldn’t, and they were there in abundance thankfully. I loved the wines chalky texture, but was most impressed at the expansive and richer by the second finish. My thoughts kept thinking of a high end Chablis. Other notes lean towards this wine being at peak, I don’t see that today. Plenty of upside potential still.
